I Have Read and Agree to the Following Conditions:

I want to register for SECRETS TOLD AND UNTOLD. When my registration is confirmed, I will send a deposit of $125 in funds drawn on a US bank to hold my place. This deposit is nonrefundable unless the Colloquy registration is closed.

I will send the balance of $450 by April 1st, 2010. Should I have to withdraw after that, I understand the balance is refundable only if a new applicant steps forward to take my place (this because CLNE must assert to The Essex a definite number of rooms or pay for them even if vacated).

Once I receive confirmation of my application, I will mail my deposit immediately, and my balance of fees for Colloquy registration by April 1, 2010, to:

I understand that due to space constraints, spouses and family members other than those who are accompanying me for medical assistance may not be housed at The Essex unless there is room available following the close of registration.

Additional information:

A brief reading list proposed by the guest speakers will be sent to me before the Colloquy. Participants are strongly encouraged to read everything on the list.

At registration there will be an option to suggest and / or sign up for discussion groups. More details on these groups to follow.

Books by guest authors will be on sale during the Colloquy, courtesy of Brown Dog Books and Gifts.

The Essex supplies a free van service to and from the Burlington (Vermont) airport; such service needs to be requested from The Essex in advance.

B. The Essex, Vermont’s Culinary Resort and Spa

Room and Board: Fees and Conditions *

Children’s Literature New England does not handle The Essex’s room bookings. For your convenience we provide information below about how to book your own room.

Room fees include three nights lodging with en suite bathroom and include meal costs, Thursday dinner through Sunday breakfast, excluding the cost of alcohol, which will be available for purchase independently. See below for more information on the menu. The Essex website advertises a spa and other amenities (see www.vtculinaryresort.com).

Meal costs for commuters will be assessed separately; prices to follow.

SINGLE ROOM: The Essex provides a limited number of single rooms with board and bath at $516.94 for three nights, May 6-9. The Essex will take bookings of single rooms by phone (see below).

DOUBLE ROOM: The Essex provides a limited number of double rooms with board and bath at $356.71 per person. CLNE will provide lists of people who have requested names of lodgers with whom to share. Please click below as directed if you want to add your name to such a list.

The Essex: Dietary Concerns and the Menu

For reasons of economy breakfasts are continental, though hot breakfasts are available for purchase in the restaurant at The Essex. Evening buffet meals will feature a single entrée (chicken, meat, or fish) and a vegetarian option will be provided.

If you have food allergies or other health concerns related to your diet, please contact Corinne Rodino at 802.764.1445, The Essex, to determine if The Essex can fulfill your needs. Please note that CLNE is not responsible for determining if your dietary needs can be met.

The Essex houses a well-regarded culinary school. As to personal preferences of fare beyond issues related to health, we encourage you to consider that an economical group plan is de facto pot-luck. Before and during the Colloquy, CLNE will refer questions about the fare to the food staff of the Inn.

Please add my name to the list of registrants seeking information on others with whom to share a room. Betty Tisel, CLNE’s double-room liaison, will send me a list of others who are seeking roommates. I agree to let my name, email, and phone number be circulated on such a list, which will be updated weekly. I also agree to let Betty Tisel know (at betty@clne.org) once I have found a roommate and we have booked a double room, so our names can be removed from the list. I understand that CLNE is not responsible for finding me a roommate or promising me a double room.

I will make private arrangements for lodging. I will pay a separate dining fee, to be assessed later. (Note: I understand that there is limited space for commuters and I will be alerted if the commuter registration has been filled.)
